Fort Trek

Korigad Fort – A Guardian of the Maratha Empire

Korigad Fort holds a significant place in Maratha history. In 1657, it was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj along with several strategic forts, including Tung, Tikona, Visapur and Lohagad. The fort’s importance is further highlighted by the fact that after the Treaty of Purandar, Korigad remained under Maharaj’s control, reflecting its vital role in safeguarding the region.

Perched amidst the scenic Sahyadri ranges, Korigad offers breathtaking panoramic views of the iconic Tung and Tikona forts. The trek to Korigad is equally rewarding, taking adventurers through lush green landscapes, dense forests and picturesque waterfalls that come alive during the monsoon season. Combining rich history with stunning natural beauty, Korigad is a perfect destination for trekkers, nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
