Fort Trek

Ratangad fort is the jewel in all the hill forts in Sahyadri.

It lies in the Ajoba mountain range, surrounded by the great mountains of Kulang, Alang, Kalsubai, Katarabai, Ajoba, and Ghanchakkar. The view of entire Bhandardara dam( Lake Arthur) gives sheer pleasure. It also has a natural rock cavity through which the sky can be seen. It is called Nedhe or eye of the needle.
Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and was one of his favorites. “Ratan” means Jewel in Hindi and indeed it is jewel in all the hill forts here in Sahyadri

At the base of this fort is the ancient Lord Shiva Amruteshwar temple. Famous for its carvings, dating back to the Hemadpant Era – roughly from the eighth century. Is an absolute pinnacle of the high-class architecture of our ancestors.

Itinerary

Day 0 – 02-Jan-2026 (Saturday)

10:00 PM Start Journey from Sarasbaug towards Ratangad Fort.

Day 1 – 03-Jan-2026 (Sunday)

Early morning arrival at the base village ‘Ratanvadi’ and freshen up
Enjoy breakfast, followed by an introduction round
Start the trek towards Ratangad Fort
Reach at top of the fort.
Have a brief historical information session about fort and a free discussion session.
Start visiting ancient places.
After exploring the fort start descending.
Have a lunch in Hotel.
Start bus journey towards Pune.
10:00 PM Reach Pune.

– 75% Refund – Cancellation made more than 7 days before the event date.
– 50% Refund – Cancellation made between 5 and 7 days before the event date.
– No Refund – Cancellation made less than 5 days before the event date.

Event Cancellation / Postponement

In the event of adverse weather conditions, natural calamities, government restrictions, local authority orders, road closures or any unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, Sahyadri Trekkers reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, modify or cancel the event. In such cases, refunds will not be applicable, as transportation, accommodation, permits, guides and other logistics are booked and arranged in advance. Participants may be offered an alternative date or credit towards a future event, subject to feasibility.
